Qualified Technicians manufacture, install, service and maintain commercial/industrial heating, cooling and refrigeration systems.
At Excel, we believe that women are the future of our industry.
Women are working at Excel as apprentices, technicians, project managers, engineers and labourers, it’s a side of our workforce that we want to grow. Mechanically minded women are great trade industry professionals.
IT ALL STARTS WITH ONE STEP
We started with our first female apprentice, Rebecca Barr.
Her natural interest in all things mechanical led Rebecca into stock car driving. As a stock car driver, she quickly learned to maintain and fix her car’s engine. When Rebecca was deciding what to do career-wise, working in industrial refrigeration was a natural merging of her interests and talents.
Rebecca taught us as much as we taught her. She was diligent, engaged, and excited to learn.
She became qualified in 2018.
She “feels lucky that this is the trade for me” she admits, despite the fact that on day one, she wasn’t totally sure what being a “fridgie” was.
WHAT AN EXCEL APPRENTICESHIP LOOKS LIKE
We now have a number of female apprentices and are constantly welcoming more.
